Q: What is a Table Read?
A: A Table Read (aka "read-through") is an important process and stage of TV and film production, where the actors and crew come together to hear the script read aloud. This affords everyone the opportunity to iron out any issues before production.
Q: Why would I need one?
A: A read-through is a powerful tool for identifying problem areas in your screenplay, and most (if not all) serious productions have them. From a below-the-line perspective, it's used as a preemptive measure to make sure production runs efficiently. From an above-the-line perspective, it helps expose pacing issues, exposition, slow and dull spots and other areas of the script that can be tightened or rewritten before production.
Q: Can't my friends just read it and give me their .02c?
A: Sure. But what we offer is a professional environment with people who understand and speak industry language. We use professional working actors, cast by top Hollywood talent agencies; we surround the table with development executives who will not only give you their .02c, but are in the position to cut you a check for your script.
